laptop waveHello Welcome to Teaching Digital Learners In a Digital Age. My Name Is Ms. Cara, I am a teacher Candidate at Brock University.

The purpose of this Digital Virtual Blog, is to document my journey as a Teacher Candidate At Brock University around the subject of Digital Learning.  The purpose of this course and class was to prepare US TEACHER CANDIDATES for a technology-enhanced classroom. This course focused on research based strategies and concrete suggestions for effective integration of communication and information technologies across the curriculum in a way that enhances learning with special emphasis on topics strands and expectations detailed by the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum documents. BUT also identify the knowledge and skills teachers need in order to completely teach with technology while providing opportunities for enhancing personal skills with technology tools currently being used in Ontario Classrooms today.

Teachers who use technology effectively in the classroom engage their students in powerful learning environments that students view as relevant and interesting, theses teachers have a basic understanding of how to effectively integrate technology and when to integrate technology so that instruction is enhanced.

This page will introduce you to the challenges and benefits of working with computer technologies, as well as how to construct learning opportunities for students.

Students will:
  1. Establish a professional identity and begin using digital tools that build a positive digital footprint

  3. Develop a repertoire of technology-enhanced activities that can be adapted for lessons across the Ontario Curriculum, based on instructional design principal, as well as the technology standard sets out by ISTE (international Society of Technology in Education
We learn about understanding the development, profession, trajectory and connection, network of importance through the Digital World across the curriculum. Learn how to support student learning through careful consideration of conversation, observation and product, and how to give appropriate feedback, while also accessing high quality Digital learning resources, that can be connected throughout the curriculum in many subjects that are tactile, and digital, and understanding how to incorporate socio-emotional learning skills. For all grades and ages.

Week 3:
"Teaching Critical Thinking with Education Technology"

(started at 1:40/17:13)

The 4 C's Of Learning Badge

The  21st Century- The 4C's

๐Ÿ’กReflection: ๐Ÿ–ผ
"Teaching Critical Thinking with education Technology"

Resource for Teachers:

๐Ÿ’กReflection:
1.Write a brief paragraph explain what the 4’c for 21 century learning?
2 Write a brief paragraph that explains the value of the 4’C of learning. To learners and to educators?

The 4 C’s are universal to students and educators. With guided inquiry, coding challenges, project-based learning, and problem-based learning.   The Four’ C’s of digital tools of learning, are critical thinking which is the ability to analyze, interpret, evaluate, make decisions and solve problems. This can be used to construct online research with, firsthand interviews and also students can use graphic organizers and illustrator findings and share with one another. Communication is to share information while expressing their thoughts and opinions clearly to others it also requires strong was thinking evaluation skills in order to aid in collaboration. Students can use the power of their own voice to share information, while also expressing their thoughts and opinions clearly to others. This can be in verbal written or multimedia messages. Collaboration with other student’s ability to work with each other and accomplish a goal, while also sharing group responsibilities. Creativity includes abilities such as brainstorming refining ideas make ideas tangible and useful to others and work together to brainstorm innovative ways to address important social justice issues, example recycling creating accountability together and being able  to contrast and reflect critically, through technology.

Week 4: Explored Tech Tools:
This week we were responsible  for choosing from two Badges:
Web Learning Badge and a App Learning Badge

Task 2: Web Learner Badge: Write a paragraph to explain your thoughts on any five of the websites

1. Bubbl.us:
This program allows you to create colorful and engaging mind maps, graphical representations of concepts and ideas and the relationships between them. It’s great for planning projects, collaborating with others, and brainstorming with your team. It is very easy to use and quick to use, it’s a very simple tool that features and option are very easy to understand, it lets you view a project using the presentation mode and save it and share it. The only weakness that I have with this program is that its free version but has very limited features. This program is suitable for all ages, and all grades, and or instructional proposes. The way I can see myself using this website is for my own personal needs as a student, but also to brainstorm with students, and encourage my students and others to use it to brainstorm.

2. National Gallery of Art, Art Tales for Pre-K
This website is filled with many resources about learning art at any age. As a teacher you can find many various lesson ideas, teaching resources and professional developmental opportunities. There is lots of resources and free interactive iPad Apps, where children can learn about art and creating their own masterpieces.  What I enjoyed most about this website, is that there is “art tales” for Pre-k all the way up to high school resources. With downloaded PDF files to help start a conversation of artists. Like Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky. The way I can envision myself using this website, is to incorporate language, and history into my lesson plans for my students for extra resources.

3. Kahoot
Kahoot Is a good program to be able to interact with older students, but the weakness is with younger students, the suitability of this program is that it can be used in all age and grades for quizzes, or even surveys to make sure that students are understanding the context that they are learning. The interesting finding that I found on this cite, is that you can create a learning game, and host live classes or videos as a conferencing tool to connect to students virtually on any devices, design a challenge

4. Bouncy Balls
This website is a classroom nice level matter, monitor and management tool, perfect if your students are too noisy. I would use this tool for Gym Classes, or to teach younger students the power of digital programs. This program also has similar programs such as https://neave.com/ this link where you can find, Zoom Earth, Tic-Tac-Toe, retro version of the simple game X’s and O’s.  The only weakness element of this program is that it can be only used for the level of monitor sound and management tool.

5. Random Name Picker
This tool is very easy to use, it allows you to instantly pick a random name (winner) from a list of names. I like this program because it can help with picking groups for students, and giving contests, drawing, giveaways and promotions. This program can be suitable for all students when they are doing research or collaborative work with others,
Strengths and weakness
Suitability to different subjects’ areas or instructional proposes
How you envision yourself using the website

Week 5: Creating Tech Enhanced Lessons:

๐Ÿ’กReflection
This week the theme was "Creating Tech Enhanced Lessons", Today section we created a curation Badge, of building background for our Genius Borad, around the format of Digital Tools.  Two Platforms that have been helping me create my Genius Board has been Pinterest, which is a curation platform that i highly recommend. its super easy to use, and simple to understand, you can save images that you enjoy. You can also add them to folders and create smaller folders inside the big ones. I have been using Pinterest for a long time, for my own research for teaching, and creating lesson plans. This platform has multi-use and is something that I use personally and in my professional career.  Another digital curation platform is Google Note, for three reason; . First it is connected to Google, which means you can access theses notes, with your Google Classroom, your Google blog. It is very straight forward with accessing and using the features on this site. Third You can easily organize and drag in photos, and links from YouTube, straight into your browser. This week we also created a "This is not a Box" (using Google Drawing) and A house, Using Google Slides.
